
Dr. Megan Williamson is a licensed clinical psychologist appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court Approved Panel of Psychiatrists and Psychologists specializing in forensic services.
She conducts assessments for PC 1368 Competency To Stand Trial, PC 1026 Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity, Mitigation, Risk, Franklin hearings, PC 1001.36 Mental Health Diversion, PC 288.1 sexual offender (including child pornography), and PC 1172.6 petition for resentencing. Dr. Williamson also conducts cognitive and intellectual, personality, malingering, and psychodiagnostic testing and provides expert witness testimony in criminal court cases. Throughout her career, she has worked in numerous correctional and psychiatric facilities across California. Dr. Williamson has extensive experience evaluating competency, trauma, malingering, dangerousness, and sanity for Los Angeles, Kern, and Ventura County Superior Courts. She has supervised pre-doctoral and post-doctoral interns and unlicensed clinical staff at Kern County Behavioral Health, now an APA-accredited internship. She developed and provided clinical and forensic didactic training for psychiatric residents and fellows at the Kern-UCLA Psychiatric Residency Program.
Education & Training
Dr. Williamson earned her doctorate in psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute and has been practicing psychology since 2006. She began conducting forensic evaluations for Kern County Mental Health (KCMH) in 2009, where she received extensive training in forensic assessment. While at KCMH, she provided individual and group therapy, supervision, and probation progress reports for juvenile, mentally ill, and sexual offenders. Additionally, Dr. Williamson provided individual and group therapy and supervision of Conditional Release Program (CONREP) patients. In 2010, while at KCMH, Dr. Williamson was a liaison between Kern County Probation and KCMH, providing treatment and supervision for mentally ill justice-involved individuals.
